before, during...

I'm preparing to move and those of you who've been there know how consuming it can be. Consider me consumed.

In a few minutes I'll begin loading my car to make a trip to the new place but a few realizations have pierced the fog of fatigue, minutiae and endless lists to gain my attention.
1. If only a few things remain critical to living here for the remaining weeks, what is all that non-essential stuff that I'm so diligently packing?
2. Was going to snap some "before" photos of the empty space today, then remembered that I wouldn't be sending them to my mother who would have enthusiastically followed the entire process from afar.
3. Moving demands physical, emotional, intellectual energy, but I hadn't anticipated that it would also siphon my creative energies. My practical imagination is on overtime, but I miss the free flow of reflection. (Memo to self: Time slow down -- to journal?)
4. Although...my imagination has been on fire with ideas for the new space -- inside and out. It's all a blank canvas. Have I been confusing creative self-expression solely with writing? It's also in those boxes, piles and that new vista.

Time's a-wastin'... or maybe not. Just got my slow down time.
